Frick India Ltd., a leading refrigeration and air conditioning company, has launched its ultra low oxygen (ULO) cold stores, that can help reduce the wastage of crops and produce:

The ULO cold stores allow for storage of fruits and vegetables for storage of fruits and vegetables for longer periods than current cold stores are capable of. They also permit better preservation of the basic colour, a firmer product and ethylene sensibility and decrease of decay sensibility. The cold stores are priced between Rs 50,000 and rs 3 crore depending on the capacity of the units.

India, which is the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables, loses about 30 to 40 per cent of its harvest due to inadequate storage infrastructure. Shoratge of quality storage facility also undermines its potential for exports.
